A Day of Service – Join us!

On Friday, November 2nd, All Souls Day, St. Joseph School students, alumni, parents and staff will be participating in the Annual Minnesota Marathon for Nonpublic Education, a program sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, which we call our Service Rake-a-thon.

We start the morning by encouraging all families to attend the 7:00 am Mass, which is a Mass for the Sacred Heart of Jesus and a celebration of All Souls Day. After Mass, we will go to the school for a hearty breakfast and a short program put on by All Pro Dads.

We will then head back to the church to pray the rosary, led by our 6th grade class.  The rosary intention will be for all souls and for all the shut-ins and elderly of our community. We spend the rest of the morning working with schoolmates and numerous parents raking the yards of some elderly community members in Waconia, Victoria and St. Bonifacius. This service day is one of the highlights of the school year for all of us.

The Rake-a-thon is a major fundraiser for our school ministry.  The money we raise supports the school and ultimately our whole parish. This project makes a difference in our lives and in the lives of those for whom we provide the raking service. We are hoping that we can raise over $25,000 through the Rake-a-Thon this year.  We do this by taking pledges.

Please consider sponsoring me, Mr. Richards.  I’m trying to out-fundraise Fr. Stan.  The winner will be treated to a Twins game during the opening series next spring.  Your pledge will be put to good use and helps every student at our school.  You could sponsor both me and Fr. Stan if you wish, just add 1 more cent to Mr. Richards’ box.

If you are able to sponsor me, please stop by the school or send a check made payable to St. Joseph School by November 6th. Be sure to add a note with the check that you are supporting Mr. Richards’ rake-a-thon efforts.

Or, you can make a donation online by visiting our school website: school.stjosephwaconia.org/

Thanks for supporting our parish school. You are greatly appreciated!

~Mr. Richards
