SJS 5-8 GRADE MUSICAL AUDITIONS
When: Rescheduled- Thursday, March 2 – 3:00-4:30 pm.
Where: SJS Music Room
*IF YOUR CHILD IS INTERESTED IN CREW ONLY NO NEED TO AUDITION, just fill out the payment form!
Auditions will start at 3:00 pm and be in 30-minute time slots. Miss Olson will work with up to 12 students at a time. Students will be taught some music from the show at auditions. No need for memorizing. For those auditioning for singing roles, you will be asked to sing at least one of the songs from the folder below. It is highly encouraged that everyone tries the singing audition for experience.
The performances will be May 4-6.
You will also find acting sides from the script. Students interested in acting and acting/singing roles please review these. No memorization is required.
Miss Olson aims to have the auditions as relaxed and fun as possible. There are many different roles available, including roles that are speaking only (for the students who don’t want to sing 😉).
Auditions are currently open to St. Joseph’s students in grades 5-8. Please sign up right away. Auditions will open up to grade 4 if needed. We are really hoping to get lots of middle schoolers involved!
There are scripts available with Miss Olson if your student (or you!) would like to read one.
Two movie versions:
The 1990s starring Mara Wilson, Danny DeVito, and Rhea Pearlman (not a musical)
2022 Netflix (Broadway/West End Musical) There are some big cuts they did from the musical for the movie- for instance, the movie has Matilda as an only child, but in the book/musical, she has a brother.

A $100 activity fee for the cast and a $30 activity fee for the crew will be due on the first day of rehearsal! Scholarships are available, contact Mr. Richards!
