Kristi Klawitter

Mrs. Kristi Klawitter has been teaching the minds of middle students for nearly 20 years. Prior to joining St Joseph Catholic School as a teacher in 2013, Mrs. Klawitter taught in three different school systems in Iowa: Stilwell Junior High School in West Des Moines, Albia High School in Albia, and Oskaloosa Middle School in Oskaloosa.

Mrs. Klawitter graduated from Loras Catholic College in Dubuque, Iowa with a BS Degree in Mathematics with an Endorsement in Secondary Education. She has since earned her Masters Degree: Professional Educator from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa and also her STEM Certification from St. Catherine’s University in St Paul, Minnesota.

Mrs. Klawitter continues to be amazed at the power of the presence of prayer and God within our school setting. Mrs. Klawitter joined the St. Joseph School family first as a parent of her two boys upon their move from Iowa to Minnesota. St. Joseph Catholic School was their family’s first experience with a Catholic school education, and when the opportunity to join the school as a faculty member arose, Mrs. Klawitter felt God’s presence in her decision to step back into education after an 8 year hiatus to be a stay-at-home mother.

Mrs. Klawitter’s style of teaching has evolved throughout her educational experiences and she believes that the STEM philosophy allows students to explore and learn in a way that prepares them for the future. She believes that each student is a precious and unique gift from God and thoroughly enjoys being a part of their lives. Mrs. Klawitter loves to share her passion for the world of mathematics to everyone whether she is with middle school students or some of our younger students or coaching the St Joseph Middle School Math Team. Her students experience a brush up with excellence every day that they work with Mrs. Klawitter.

Her prayer for each student is to cultivate their God given strengths as well as develop areas of improvement while at St Joseph School to be the person that God intends them to be. Once he/she graduates from St Joseph School and heads onto the next phase of his/her life, Mrs. Klawitter hopes that each student stands for what they believe in, chooses right over wrong, and continues to serve others as they live the word of God.
