The St. Joseph Catholic School competes in the West Metro division of the Minnesota Junior High Math League. Participation in math league gives students an opportunity to expand their math skills individually and cooperatively in groups. It is also a chance for students to compete against the best “Mathletes” in the western suburbs. The West Metro division consists of St. Joseph School and five area schools (Watertown-Mayer, Delano, St. Therese, Chapel Hill Academy and Notre Dame Academy). There are five meets from October to January including 1-2 home meets at St. Joseph School. Students compete for team and individual honors. The team consists of students in grades 6-8 and practices approximately once per week from September to January. The team is coached by St Joseph math teacher Kristi Klawitter and Ridgewater Community College math professor Mike Sieve.
