Virginia Gelhar has been part of the St. Joe’s community since 1987. She currently supports the school as a reading specialist. Her education includes a Bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State University, a Master’s degree in reading education from St. Thomas University, and a STEM certificate from St. Catherine’s University. She also received Orton Gillingham training in the summer of 2019.
Miss Gelhar also feels extremely blessed to be part of the sacramental journey of St. Joe’s parishioners. After 31 years of guiding second-graders in the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist, she currently works with the RCIC students to help them receive their Sacraments. She finds it truly inspiring to see the graces of the Sacraments live out in the lives of parishioners.
Miss Gelhar is involved in two book clubs, and her love of reading influenced her to develop the summer reading program at St Joe’s. She loves sports and enjoys being St. Joe’s “#1 fan”, following her former students as they pursue their joy and passion in sports and the arts. She loves the amazing St. Joe’s community, and it gives her much joy to have worked with so many special families over the years.
